FAIR GROUNDS TURF NOTES O 0 Apprentice Eddie Robart, under engagement to Weston W. Adams, was an arrival from Narragansett. The young rider, who won the initial race of his career late in July, has ridden forty winners since that time. J. G. Brown has a promising apprentice under his care in Walter Taylor of Houston, Texas. Taylor rode his first race during the Narragansett Park fall meeting and Brown thinks he has a good prospect in the Houston boy who can do 95 pounds. Before leaving Louisville, Nick Burger purchased Quick Quick and At Home from the Brown Hotel Stable. Burger decided to turn the veteran performer, Frank Ormont, out for the balance of the winter. The horses Earl Vince brought here for H. Young Monday are Miss Ivory, All Night, Lemira and Magnolia Cash. Ben Fulwider is conditioning High Diver and No Doubt for A. C. Nelson. Thomas H. Craven, who will serve as paddock and patrol judge with Frank Otis, was an arrival from Cincinnati. General manager Robert S. Eddy, Jr., announced Wednesday that Sunday would be inspection day. The grounds will be thrown open to the public and in the afternoon a test race, bringing together eight starters, with starter John Morrissey dispatching the horses, will be held. The distance will be out of the newly-constucted chute at the head of the stretch. Alcee Richard has signed to ride for J. F. Neel, who has a division of the R. Jewett stable quartered here. M. P. Lyons registered Biography, Sherry B. and Step Rosey. The horses sport the silks of Miss Sherry Ballera. Mickey Fernandez of New Orleans willi act as agent for the locally-owned "Butsey"! Hernandez stable. Fernandez will also make the riding engagements for W. McCadden1 and apprentice Caniglia. L. King will have Broad Lights and Our David to carry his colors. King is also training Robert S., Crack Boy and Reigh Mouse for J. A. Koury. A check of registrations shows that eighty-six trainers have placed their lists with racing secretaiy Leigh. Horsemen are expected to place the registrations in the hands of Leigh in laige numbers within the next few days. John Morrissey has selected his assistants for the coming meeting. The men to work on the ground crew are Allen Lavin, Eric Blind, Jim Thompson, Bob McCue, Bill Simpson, Harold Holland and Duke Penter. Wise Princess is the only horse J. J. Stephen is training. The three-year-old filly is the property of A. Tollar. Max Sussman, glass concessionaire, was an arrival Wednesday and stated he would be here during the entire meeting. The ten head J. P. Keezek is training for the Le Mar Stock Farm were moved to Jefferson Park. After acting as understudy for Charles Campau for several years, Richard Leigh, Jr., will start his first meeting at the local track as clerk of the scales, although he held this position at the Fair Grounds most of last year and on several other tracks in the midwest. John Morrissey is a fixture in the starting stand, as is Dick Leigh in the racing secretarys office. The paddock and patrol judges are Frank Otis and Thomas Craven, while G. Ray Bryson has been re-appointed timer. The efficient Dr. Hamlett Moore, who inaugurated the saliva test at the local course, remains the track veterinarian. Some of the stables to arrive here recently were those of Ivan Parke, who brought eight from Narragansett, H. K. Barron, with three from the same point, Le Mar Stock Farm stable, numbering ten in charge of J. P. Keezek, R. C. Gillem, bringing five in the same car which was shipped from Louisville.
