1 AGUA CALIENTE TURF NOTES S C. J. Gamble will send the horse Boilermaker to Agua Caliente from Santa Anita to participate in the feature races offered at the Mexico course. Boilermaker, an outstanding performer, was brought to the coast last fall along with the horses which trainer Jimmy Smith shipped to Santa Anita. Boilermaker formerly raced for Col. E. R. Bradley, the venerable Kentucky owner and breeder. Included among the owners who shipped to Caliente during the past week were Lee Hankins, with Bens Hope and Nojoqui; L. B. Jeffers, with The Trainer, Fella and My Mint, and M. McPherson, with Alice Byrd. Trainer George Ellis, representing Mrs. G. Grantham, sold the horse Cledis to Mullin and Hannah. The horse will be trained by C. T. Mullin. A. B. Hudkins has appointed R. Hall as trainer for the horse Black Hair, which arrived recently at the border course. The present condition of the Agua Caliente racing strip is a fitting tribute to track! superintendent Frank, Rinehart. The horse-Imen are loud in their praise, as not one horse which has engaged in races this season has pulled up lame. Sam Matthews, a regular at Agua Caliente every season, was among the arrivals this week, bringing the veteran distance performer, San Ramon. Earl Simpson, who recently took over his own horses to train, has added Kwamudi to his string, acquiring the horse from Harry Walters. Terms of the transaction were private. Jockey W. Root, veteran reinsman who achieved much of his riding success at the border course, checked in from Tanforan and will ride free lance Trainer Eual Wyatt, who is well up in the standings of American trainers, has decided he will visit Agua Caliente when the opportunity presents itself to saddle the horses of Mrs. J. F. Waters here in charge of Jack Luddy. Wyatt will continue this routine until December 31, which will afford him an advantage to gain on his nearest rivals. Jockey Allan Gray, who has been inactive since sustaining a fractured shoulder during the latter part of the Bay Meadows meeting when thrown from Barbadoes, has been granted a license and will don colors here Saturday. Another member of the fair sex was granted a trainers license when the officials passed favorably on the application of Mrs. J. C. Sawyer, daughter of Mrs. C. E. Irvin. There are four performers in the string which Mrs. Sawyer brought here from Tanforan. They are Edgar Boy, Wyoming Daisy, Empress Hills and North Fork. The latter races in the interest of M. E. Atkinson. Mrs. J. F. Harris has purchased the filly Honeynez from E. Cox and Mrs. G. Schukert. This was to dissolve the partnership. The price was not disclosed. The filly was turned over to F. J. Harris to train. Elmer Cox has been appointed trainer of the ten-year-old Leader, which races for Everett Howell.
