I FAIR GROUNDS TURF NOTES j s- y Knave, Boston Sound, Creole Beauty and War Jest are the only bad post actors included on starter Johnny Morrisseys schooling list at present. A. J. Scheutze came over from Houston, Texas, for a visit of a few days and announced that the horses which race for his wife have been turned out in Houston since the close of the Narragansett autumn meeting. Joe Bernard, trainer of the McDee Stable and apprentice W. Armstrong, left to spend the Christmas holidays at their respective homes in Dallas, Texas. During the absence of Bernard, Cecil Locklear will look after the McDee horses. Rand A. Coward announced that he has taken a lease on the services of apprentice W. Cassity for the balance of the Fair Grounds meeting, and the youngster, who topped the riders at Shreveport, will do the bulk of the stables riding. J. J. Miller will depart for his home hi California Friday and remain on the West Coast for a vacation of two weeks. In his absence, I. J. Surgi, local trainer, will look after the Miller horses, Tunbridge, Amo Jay. and Madrush. Apprentice Gus Dye is making preparations to leave for Miami, Fla., shortly after Christmas and will remain in the Everglade State for the remainder, of the winter. C. E. Luginbuel, who is part owner of the horses that race in the interest of Major and Luginbuel, is an arrival and plans to remain in the Crescent City for an indefinite period. Jockey Bob Finnerty, who has not sported silks since suffering a fall from Hermosillo, is fully recovered and has been galloping horses for the past few days. The veteran Irish Channel rider plans to resume riding Monday afternoon. I Jerry Buckland departed for Laurel, Mi, where he will remain for the balance of the winter. He has several horses wintering in the Old Line State. Miss Jane Gregory, owner of Dinner Jacket and Flaming Play, is an arrival from her home in Boston, Mass., and, according-to her present plans, will remain in New Orleans until the close of the Fair Grounds meeting. The contract that G. F. Mitchell recently-purchased on aprentice Willie Seaman was sold this morning to W. W. Adams, and the services of the boy have been leased to Fi D. McElroy for the remainder of the Louisiana Jockey Club season. Jockey Sammy Williams cancelled his mounts Thursday at the Fair Grounds and left for his home in Dallas, Texas, to spend the Christmas holidays with his parents. He later goes to Santa Anita to join the stable of W. C. Weant.
