Won driving; second and third the same. - INSTEAD, away alertly, made the pace under snug restraint, drew out when entering the stretch and finished gamely to hold BLACK BUDDY safe. The latter, held off the pace for a half mile, was brought to the extreme outside for the drive and closed courageously, but could not get up. MOISSON. never, far back and able to save ground, was put to good pressure the last quarter and closed gamely. FIRM HAND, well up and in hand for about three-eighths, held on well thereafter. HEDON forced the pace under occasional pressure and tired in the last three-sixteenths. MORNING MAIL was outrun throughout. JIM CORNELL, well up from the start, was put to good pressure after three-eighths, lost some ground entering the stretch and held on fairly well. ELLABEE, hustled along from the start, was in trouble while racing wide on the stretch turn and closed well. WAUGH SCOUT had good speed for a half mile and tired in the drive. DINNA DO had no excuses. HEIDI quit after showing speed for a half mile. SWEET SHOWNO broke poorly. NOR FENG was taken up sharply right after the start. GARDEN MESSAGE, a sharp factor from the beginning, was put to strong pressure after reaching the final quarter and outfinished ROYAL TUSCAN. The latter had good speed from the beginning, held on stubbornly when challenged, but could not stall off the winner. IDOLATRY, a sharp factor from the beginning and in hand for three-eighths, was hard ridden thereafter and held on well. JADAAN, slow to begin, was in close quarters going down the back stretch, was taken to the inside after three-eighths and closed strongly. DYAK lacked speed for a half mile, but made up ground thereafter. WENET gave way badly after showing good speed for a half mile. TUNBRIDGE, away with the leaders and hard hustled throughout, gained a slight advantage after tlirce-eizhths and gradually increased her advantage. ADOLF began slowly, was outrun for a half mile, came to the outside and closed with a rush. MONON LAD broke swiftly, held a slight early load and saved ground, but was not good enough. PEGGING AWAY tired in the last eighth under strenuous urging. CHANTING was on the outside throughout and failed to keep up. FRENCH BREAD, on the inside from the break and close up from the three-eighths post, was taken back sharply when in close quarters and never recovered. CHECKS had no excuses. GLOWSET, hustled into a commanding lead soon after the start, gave way suddenly in the last eighth. HAPPY HELEN was well up for a half mile, then tired. ORINOCO, taken under light restraint early and on the inside for a half mile, moved up rapidly on the outside thereafter and, swiftly taking command, drew out to win with something in reserve. INVERMARK, unable to keep up in the first three-quarters, came around horses when improving his position and closed a big gap. KHAR FAIR, prominent from the start and under stout restraint for five-eighths, held on well in the drive. CASH O BOY was blocked when moving up fast on the inside, then continued gamely after recovering, but could not threaten. DUSKY PRINCE moved up strongly approaching the final quarter, then DIAMOND forced wide the first turn and was never gave way suddenly in the last eighth. ROUGH was on a factor. UNLAWFUL, steadied along for three-quarters, held on fairly well thereafter under pressure. CATSWEEP made the pace under good restraint, held on well to the final eighth and then tired. GAWAINE also tired after showing good speed to the final eighth. PAKALA broke into the air.
