, j j ; , i RESOLUTION AGAINST WAR LIMA, Peru, Dec. 22. A resolution pledg-i ing the twenty-one American republics not j to recognize war as a legitimate means of solving international or national disputes ; was placed on the records of the eighth Pan-i American conference today. The resolution j was adopted at a plenary session of the con-, ference. Acting on a declaration "for the defense of human rights," the conference also expressed hopes "that when war breaks out in other parts of the world human rights not necessarily involved in the conflicts will be respected, as well as humanitarian senti-. ments." Meanwhile diplomats attending the parley sought to straighten out the growing dispute -over the proposed Pan-American solidarity declaration. This controversy broke out anew when Argentina released its own version of such a declaration and revealed that this was the only solidarity declaration in which it would join. As the situation now stands, delegates are confronted with two solidarity declarations, the Argentina document and another compromise text which was drawn up in an effort to compose the differences between Argentina and the United States.
