RAIN FIGURES TO HELP ARCADIA, Calif., Dec. 22. The record rains of the past week are figured to have a beneficial effect at the Santa Anita track. It is naturally heavy now but with a couple of days of sunshine it will dry out and be put into tip-top condition. It has settled down and some intensive work on it will get a level and safe footing. New drainage was put in last year which proved quite useful and serviceable. Track superintendent Herman Rod works the course the year around and is working to have a fast track for opening day on Saturday of next week.
