THE CLEAVER raced to the front at once and, well rated while saving ground, withstood a mild challenge from SENTIMENTALIST at the half-way mark to draw out in the stretch, but was tiring at the end. CYNIC QUEEN came fast, although racing wide in the stretch and was gaining on the winner. IN RANGE was outrun early, but also came fast through the stretch. SENTIMENTALIST, close to the winner under restraint in the early part, failed to respond to punishment and tired near the end. ATTA BUNNY and MASTER JEAN also tired. PRINCE BOW had speed from the start and, after alternating with HIGH MARIA in making the pace, bore out on the latter in the last sixteenth to take a short lead and won in a drive. HIGH MARIA showed a good turn of early speed and raced gamely to the finish, despite meeting with slight interference near the end. BINOCULAR saved ground on the stretch turn, but was pocketed next to the rail an eighth out and lost his chance. VICTORIAN STAR lacked his usual early speed and closed some ground when too late. KENT, well up from the start, moved to the front in the stretch and showed the way to the finish to win handily. SANTA MONICA dropped back when headed by BON IVY in the back stretch, then came again to take command near the stretch turn and was in rather close quarters on the inside of the winner in the last eighth. DARK CONQUEST was outrun early, but closed fast to best DIARISSA. The latter lacked early speed, raced wide while making her move and tired near the finish. BON IVY quit badly. FALERNO moved up fast on the back stretch and caught ESSJAYTEE rounding the stretch turn to take a short lead but was unable to resist the winner. BEST BEAU, never far away, held on well under urging. ADVOCATOR was far back early but closed a gap. WEGOWAY set the pace and continued gamely next to the rail when headed by PALMAR, then finished courageously. SEXTUS was outrun early but closed well. PALMAR raced wide on the first turn but caught WEGOWAY on the back stretch and raced with the latter to the final eighth, then tired. SKY EMPRESS showed good early speed and came again after dropping back, but was tiring at the finish. ORBRIDGE was prominent early and headed the field on the stretch turn, then tired. TOROBANG was forced to take up in the stretch and lost all chance. ALS PRIDE showed a dull effort under weak handling because of an injury sustained by his rider. DANKE SCHON was bumped on the first turn but moved up in" the back stretch, then dropped out of it in the stretch. Overweight Torobang, 1 pound; Als Pride, 2.
