NOSY, on the outside of the leaders rounding the far and stretch turns, moved up when urged for the stretch run, was interfered with by RUMBAGUS when the latter began to bear out, and proved best in the final drive. RUMBAGUS was sent into, command at the start and showed early speed while saving ground but was bearing out in the final sixteenth. PORT WALES dropped back after the start but improved his position on the inside and finished with good courage. DIN, fractious at the post, raced well throughout. TONYPANDY, away well and close up-early, faltered steadily in the stretch. ENGLES CHARM raced greenly throughout and was outrun all the way. Scratched Engles Wrondcr, 116. MAEBEAU improved his position from a slow beginning and, responding in the stretch, finished fast. SUN ANTIOCH, in near pursuit of the pace while on the outside, faltered in the final eighth. LONG BIT showed a good effort. DARK FRIEND tired in the stretch run. BILL BLEIWEISS showed an even effort. QUOTUM had no mishaps. MAESAK showed early speed. MARCABALA broke in a tangle. SEA GULL had no speed. BELIEVER could not keep up. LANTANA was outrun. WINNING STREAK was under steadying restraint rounding the far turn and dropped back, then was taken to the outside and finished with a rush. GIMPEY,- a forward factor all the way, had no mishaps. CONNIE PLAUT lacked early speed, but made up ground in the stretch. ENGLES LAD raced through on the inside entering the stretch to make a determined bid, but then hung. JEAN C. had no mishaps. The latter broke quickly and was eased back when outrun but came to the outside and finished with a belated rush. ZOSTERA was sent into command early arid showed speed to hold on fairly well under urging. MAECLOUD made up ground steadily in the stretch run. KENTY, slow to begin and outrun early, was sent up on the outside entering the stretch, then suffered interference when ZOSTERA bore over.
