Raise Famous Cup j Event to 5,000 Track Will Distribute Over 00,000 for Flat Races at Meet to Be Held at Belmont NEW YORK, N. Y., June 25— George H. Bull, president of the Saratoga Association, stated today that the stake and overnight program for the meeting which this year will be held at Belmont Park would be ready for distribution in a few days. The scene of the Saratoga meeting was shifted from the up-state resort at the request of the state authorities as a war-time measure. Mr. Bull and John B. Campbell, in going over the stake and handicap program, pointed out that for the flat races alone a sum in excess of 10,000 would be distributed. This represents an increase of 85,000 over the past year. The steeplechase events will be outlined at a meeting to be held later. Eighteen Fixtures on Roster The most pronounced increase is in the Saratoga Cup. which this season carries an endowment of 5,000, an increase of 5,000 over last year. Two-year-old stakes were all more than doubled in value while the purses for the other stakes have been tilted considerably. The stake program, which comprises 18 events for flat racing, will serve to attract and to keep here the best horses in training. In addition to the stake events, the overnight purses and handicap events will also be geared upwards on the purse values. The stake roster for the flat events is as follows : Date. Stake. Value.
