The Phoenix Wins Irish Derby DUBLIN, Ireland, June 25. — The Phoenix added another, and his most important, victory to his unbroken string when he scored in yesterdays Irish Derby, one mile and a half, at the Curragh. The favorite at 5 to 2 he carried the colors of F. S. Myerscough to a one-length triumph over Joseph McGraths Solar Prince. J. McVays Solferino was third, two lengths back. The Phoenix was ridden by Joe Canty. Straight Deal, winner of the English Derby last week at Newmarket, did not start. One month ago, The Phoenix won the Irish Two Thousand Guineas Stakes.
