First Fiddle Expected to Head Field for Renewal of Brooklyn t Slide Rule Listed Among Likely Starters in Final Stake of Aqueduct Meet AQUEDUCT, L. I., N. Y., June 28. With an overnight program offered at Aqueduct tomorrow, much interest centers on the 0,000 Brooklyn Handicap, closing feature of the Queens County Jockey Club meeting on Saturday. After the mile and one-quarter Brooklyn, the scene will shift to the Empire-at-Jamaica meeting, which opens Monday and runs through July 29. Mrs. Eddie Mulrenans First Fiddle, who will probably be starting top weight in the Brooklyn, under 126 pounds, showed his fitness for this lucrative engagement with a sparkling mile in 1 :42, over at Jamaica this morning. First Fiddle had racked up an impressive series of victories in these parts, including the Grey Lag and Queens County Handicaps, before succumbing to Four Freedoms in an overnight race here recently. In the test, Johnny Longden appeared over-confident, allowing this horse, who is inclined both to loaf and to lug in, to relax after taking the lead at the eighth pole. The other likely starters in the Brooklyn are W. E. Boeings Slide Rule, 124; Belair Studs Apache, 123; Boone Hall Stables Princequillo, 120; Greentree Stables Four Freedoms and William Zieglers Wait a Bit, 116 each; Millbrook Stables Alex Barth, 114; Ensign Townsend B. Martins Bankrupt, 108; A. J. Sacketts Tola Rose, 108; Pf c. T. H. Heard, Jr.s Boysy and Lt. Walter P. Chryslers Ramillies, 107; Brookmeade Stables Bourmont, and Greentrees Famous Victory, 106. Boeing Star Working Well Most of the Brooklyn candidates have familiar recent form at this track, but Slide Rule will be attempting a comeback after a series of mishaps that delayed his seasonal debut. The Boeing star is" working well for this engagement. Princequillo appeared to sulk in his last race, when he trailed Wait a Bit, an improving horse. Alex Barth worked well between races here the other day and has been an honest, hard-hitting horse throughout the New York season. Apache set a track record at five and one-half furlongs in his last start. All in all, this Brooklyn shapes up as a fine contest, one justifying the lucrative supply of- added money. Thursdays program is headed by the Previous Handicap, a ,500 test for class "C" three-year-olds, at six furlongs, and the two divisions of the Mr. Bones Purse, which is for class "D" horses of the same age at. a mile and one-sixteenth. The -Previous is headed by Wheatley Stables speedy Irish Tar, who gets in with the burden of 121 pounds, and must concede from seven to 19 pounds to half a dozen rivals. These are composed of Tex Martin, 114; Flying Doug, 111; Mrs. Ames and Ravenala, 110 each; Faiseur, 104, and Faro Queen, 102. At these weights, this is a hard race to even pick a favorite, for Mrs. Ames and Ravenala both have raced disappointingly this season, but are known to have class, while Faro Queen bolted in her last start, after having been blocked in two earlier efforts. Flying Doug and Tex Martin have both displayed keen speed on occasion this year, while Faiseur is improving. The two divisions of the Mr. Bones, which will be run as the fifth and eighth races, have drawn fields of six and seven, respectively. Both have drawn moderate horses. There is another mile and one-sixteenth event, also for a ,000 purse, which has a field of six older horses.
