JOLIETTE circled the field, converged on the leaders entering the stretch and was drawing away at the end. MAYBE TOPS contributed to PROMINENCIAS" defeat, came fast in the middle of the track for the drive, was bumped inside the final eighth, but recovered and finished strongly. PLOVER BRAND, forced to be taken up rounding the far turn and eased back, came determinedly when clear. DARBY DUNEDIN made up ground late. PROMINENCIA gave way under pressure. BEE W BEE, prominent to the stretch, gave way through the final eighth. BLACK FANTASY had some brief early speed. MIA MARIA quit under pressure. ALABAMA BOY could not keep up. MA MIA came forward well rounding the far turn and, although unable to outstay the winner, held on doggedly. SPARTIATE closed ground late. MAXIEKIN had no mishaps. REAPING GEM, probably momentarily slowed up when bumped, gave way, but held the others safe. FINALLY had no mishaps. WOODFORD ANNIE had no excuses. FAVOR threat- ened briefly. HALF GRAND was outrun. HAVANA LAD, hustled into a quick lead, was probably hurried "too much and gave way grudgingly. CODE MENTOR moved up fast on the outside entering the stretch and was gaining on the leaders at the end. CAHORS had no excuses. ISLAM GIRL came forward briefly on the inside, then flattened out. AWAY UP was through after five-sixteenths. FIFTH RACE 3-4 MILE Out of Chute. CHERRY CRUSH, hustled into command along the rail and under restraint while setting the pace, had enough left to hold his advantage in the drive. ALUMONT moved to contention after seven-eighths, was forced out somewhat in the drive by BASHFUL DUCK, but could not menace the winner. The latter contributed to pinching off JUNIOR EASTON early, drifted out in the stretch and carried out ALUMONT. WISHIHADAGAL showed nothing. JUNIOR EASTON, hurried between horses rounding the first turn, was pinched off by the winner and BASHFUL DUCK, had to be eased back andcould not again threaten. Overweight Wishihadagal, 2 pounds.
