Field of Seven Routers Clash in Amstel Purse Entry of Hasreyille, Pharaday May Be Favored at Delaware DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 18. The Amstel Purse, mile and a sixteenth event for grade D routers, features the mid-week program at Delaware Park and seven better-than-average performers have been named to compete for the ,500 purse. Top weight in the Amstel under 121 pounds is Gustave Rings steady-going Hasteville, who will have an equally proficient running-mate in Pharaday. Named to oppose the Ring tandem are W. Taylor Leatherburys Split the Wind; Edge Hill Stables Via Teddy; John Manfusos Astral; Mrs. Robert H. Heighes Zax and Rudolph Nolkers Bright Remark. Hasteville, a particularly difficult campaigner to handle, was second to Flare-back last time out, with jockey Ralph Root riding him in a manner which suggested he fits the horse well. The veteran booter will again be in the saddle and this may send the Ring entry into favoritism. Pharaday won his last over Grade D routers and must also be accorded a fine chance. Expected to show marked improvement and be in the thick of contention from the outset is Viva Teddy, a five-year-old Sun Teddy gelding who has been almost entirely confined to sprints. Possessing an abundance of early speed, Viva Teddy may be the one to catch under his steadying impost of 114 pounds. Viva Teddy turned in a satis-j factory race in his most recent essay, finishing but six lengths hehind Quarter Moon in a swiftly run sprint, the time being 1:10. Zax and Bright Remark, who ran heads apart in their last race, while three lengths behind Glen Riddles War Trophy, are also well placed in the Amstel and it is not beyond their capabilities to earn the major share of the purse. Zax receives a five-pound weight pull from Bright Remark and must be regarded as the most serious threat. Split the Wind and Astral were behind Pharaday last time out and figure to be the longshots in the small field. A quartet of Dover Stakes eligibles is among the seven two-year-olds named to parade postward in the five and a half furlongs fourth race. The Dover possibilities are Mrs. C. Boshamers Tiger Mae, Gustave Rings Chally Mally, Mrs. D. Nobles Noble Cyclops and L. J. Leppers Off-Islander. Although they are regarded only lightly at present, one of the four may develop into a serious contender before the July 4th renewal.
