v " Saratoga Springs Council Protests Take Increase SARATOGA SPRINGS, N. Y June 18. The Saratoga Springs common council has taken issue with the county board of supervisors on the imposition of a county tax of 5 per cent on pari-mutuel wagering during the local 24-day meeting opening on August 5. The council holds that such a tax would be "detrimental" to the city and the county and wants the board of supervisors to reconsider its action. In a resolution adopted last night, the council recommended that the additional tax be limited to not more than 2 per cent. Under the law recently enacted at the request of Mayor William ODwyer of New York City, the maximum city or county tax that can be imposed is 5 per cent. The council declared that the larger levy would react unfavorably to the continuance of racing here.
