Laurin; bred by Calumet Farm. WENT TO POST-5:50. OFF AT 5:51 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third" the same. POMPOUS FOX was sent up fast in the first guarter to wrest the lead from JOBLOTS, was steadied along while saving ground, turned back the bid of YAFINOB, then was hard ridden to hold GARDEN POT safe. The latter worked way up steadily on the outside, rallied midway of the stretch, then hung in the final seventy yards. MACKABY was taken back off the early pace, then closed willingly under intermittent pressure. PHARFOX, sluggish at the start, trailed until the final turn, then closed with good energy. YAFINOB made a determined bid after six furlongs, held on gamely until deep in the stretch, then weakened. MUMBLE PEG was unable to keep up. JOBLOTS guit after brief early speed.
