F. B. Eye Takes Measure Of Odds-On Take Away Prevails by Three Lengths in Highlands Purse at Suffolk SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., June 18. The ,000 Highlands Purse, named for the neighboring hills of Win-throp and run over the mile and a sixteenth route, was the featured offering at Suffolk Downs today. Sam Garfield, Lynn, Mass., sportsman, watched his colors flash past the judges when F. B. Eye romped home by three lengths over the odds-on Take Away, owned by E. A. Simpson, who had a two-length margin over I. A. Bal-lous Hill Sun. The original field of eight was reduced by one, when the "off" track that prevailed caused the late withdrawal of Morris Wexlers Plebiscite, who was one of the overnight choices. Inclement weather conditions, that produced a heavy drizzle, forced the 14,283 patrons to keep under cover until the fifth race. The start was effected in front of the grandstand and Licausi sent Take Away , to the front at once, saving ground while skirting the rail into the backstretch, with Hill Sun and F. B. Eye close behind in that order. Straightening out for the run ! down the backstretch, the field was well spread, but nearing the final bend, Hill Sun made his move and moved to the flank of Take Away. Licausi had plenty of horse and turned back the challengers bid. Still saving ground and running easily, the favorite appeared to have things his own way until entering the stretch. It was at this point that apprentice Harold Keene called on F. B. Eye and there wasnt any doubt from there who was to be the ultimate winner. The five-year-old son of Chance Play was in a running mood and drew out through the stretch under a smart hand ride. The distance was covered in 1:46 over a slow track and as second choice in the wagering F. B. Eye returned .40 for the usual .
