A Dozen Route Performers In Motor City Handicap Sir Sprite, Under 123 Pounds, Gives Weight to Diamond Dick FAIR GROUNDS, Detroit, Mich., June 21. The Motor City is the best of three handicaps offered on the corking Saturday program at the Faijf Grounds race track. The headliner is a gallop of one mile and a sixteenth for a prize of 0,000 and a limit field of 12 of the best route performers quartered in this area has been named. The Lassies Handicap is a dash of five furlongs for juvenile fillies for a ,000 purse, and again a full field has been entered. The third of the handicaps is the George M. Hendrie, a six-furlong sprint for three-year-olds and upward. Here the purse is ,500, for which five speedsters will vie. Large fields will go postward in the supporting races. In the Motor City, O. F. Woodwards Sir Sprite is asked to concede weight to his 11 opponents. Under 123 pounds, the son of Ariel wttl give seven pounds to his nearest rival, Mrs. G. C. Whites Diamond Dick. Sir Sprite, obviously right on edge at present, accounted for the Black Gold Purse under 120 pounds rather impressively in his latest outing and, previous to that effort, he took top honors in the Col. Alger Memorial Handicap under 115 pounds. Both of these successes were over the same distance as tomorrows engagement. Victorious in Border City Diamond Dick was unplaced in his most recent outing, the one mile Cross Country Handicap over the turf course in which he encountered some trouble. In his previous venture he had been third in the six furlongs Cadillac Handicap but was an easy winner of the six furlongs Border City Handicap under 115 pounds. On his best effort he must be given serious consideration. Next in line in the matter of weights are Milton Shagrins Darby Dimout and S. Chris Flor-izan Sam, each under 114 pounds. Darby Dimout has been second in three attempts at the meeting while Florizan Sam accounted for his latest race to attest present fitness. In the Lassies, Henry Forrests Rembird will likely carry the bulk of public support. A creditable second last trip postward and consistently close in earlier races the daughter of Remolino needs only good racing fortune to make her presence felt. Green Acres Stock Farm will be represented by Ginnys Pride and this daughter of Singing Wood has a winning race on opening day of the meeting and over a muddy track to recommend her. Rivermont Ranchs River Continued on Page Four Motor City Handicap Draws Field of Twelve Routers Continued from Page One Scotch is another that gave evidence of a fondness for a slow track when she was successful over soft footing early in the meeting. Several of the other youngsters have shown promise and the winners here could come from any quarter. The five in the George M. Hendrie are a very evenly balanced lot. Many Lands, from the stable of Al Wellman, has performed creditably recently and his known fondness for this racing strip will be in his favor. Equally weighted with Many Lands under 116 pounds is Mrs. B. Hernandez Bold Question who turned in a smashing second in his first seasonal appearance and can be expected to improve over that effort. Also under the same impost is A.. Graffagninis Rip Away, a recent winner, and completing the field are T. D. Buhls Likeasnot and A. P. Walls Hi Gallant, neither of which can be discarded from calculations. This quintet should provide an interesting contest.
