Eleven Juvenile Fillies In Betsy Ross Stakes Mother, Fair Cross and Sugar Pill To Receive Considerable Support SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., June 21. One of the best juvenile races seen in New England this year appears to be in the offing in the ninth running of the 0,000 Betsy Ross Stakes, five and one-half furlongs test for fillies, which will feature tomorrows card. The field, which numbers 11 youngsters, appears to be a very evenly matched one. Among those named for this event were C. V. Whitneys Mother, Glenwood Farms Fair Cross, Circle M Ranchs Sugar Pill, Alfred Richers Fleet West, C. E. Buckleys Little Spooky, Mrs. D. Hollingsworths Tapestry, Reynolds Brothers Miss Marietta, Oran Lodge Stables Gemet, Parzaille and Sarnos Wise Brunette, Fred Wyses Heres Me, and Mrs. Harris Browns Rosalu. The latter arrived from New York today. Four of the Betsy Ross entrants were on the track this morning for final tighteners for the week-end feature. Circle Ms Sugar Pill, and the Glenwood Farms Fair Cross had identical works over a racing strip which, while classified as fast, was several points duller than it ordinarily is, breezing three-eighths in :38. Alfred Richers Fleet West was sent a half in :51, while Mother turned three-eighths in : 37 Ys ,. handily. The latter probably will be sent to the post as the favorite. While the race that she won in New York was a maiden event, the strawberry roan daughter of Mahmoud Fuss Budget has plenty of class. Fair Cross and Sugar Pill also will receive considerable support. The former won a maiden race at Aqueduct, while the latter turned back a good field at Keeneland early this spring in her graduation effort. On that occasion Sugar Pill was timed in :47 over the half mile asked of her. Of the locally owned fillies, Fleet West and Heres Me appear to be the best. Fleet West, who is a half-sister to West Fleet, the good handicap horse racing in this section, has a winning effort over the local racing strip and is highly regarded. Heres Me, who won her last outing here, was sharpened for her Saturday assignment on Thursday when trainer Ralph Lentini, who had such success with Air Rate in the juvenile events here last year, sent her a half mile in :49. In addition to the Betsy Ross Stakes, Turner also has programmed two other stellar events, the Maiden Handicap, a sprint, and the New England Handicap, a route test.
