HEMHOP, outrun early, moved up with a rush on the outside on the turn and disposed of MUZZ in the drive. The latter, in a contending position from the beginning and on the outside, made a determined bid in the stretch, then hung on stubbornly. CHARLES BRYCE, with the leaders from the beginning and between horses, saved ground on the turn, then weakened. CARMELITA H. had good early speed while racing with the leaders, but flattened out. ALL TEDDY could never engage the leaders. MAN DAS FIRST took a short lead on the turn, but weakened badly under pressure. ASTOUND was never prominent OUR STYLE was outrun. ZIG ZAG was not hurried while in a contending position early, moved around on the outside on the turn, took a short lead in the stretch and withstood a strong challenge from OLD IRON. The latter improved his position gradually on the outside, finished stoutly and just failed to get up. SHE DIDNT was crowded back on the turn, moved up quickly through the stretch when clear and closed well. MEMPHIS BUD trailed the field early and finished very fast. SIN LEE raced prominently on the inside early, but flattened out. MARIE J. had some early speed while racing on the outside. LEES SUMMIT was not hurried while close to the early leaders, was taken to the outside for the drive, was carried out through the stretch when SWOON drifted out, but was up in the final few yards. SWOON was sent into a clear lead at once, was steadied in front, drifted out through the stretch, bothering the winner and held on well. BOY-PLIN, outrun early, moved up on the outside on the turn, was taken to the inside for the drive and closed fast. WILMA VAN, a stout contender from the beginning, held on stubbornly. HENNY PENNY, under restraint and within reach of the early leaders, went around on the outside on the turn, took a short lead in the stretch, disposed of SURF RIDER and held SEALANE safe under hard urging. SEALANE was not hurried early, was taken to the outside for the drive and, closing with a rush, just failed to get up. SURF RIDER had good early speed while racing in-the lead with GALLANT HOUR and gave way grudgingly. PAULAS STAR was unable to engage the leaders while racing evenly. SWIFT LEGION trailed the field until the stretch turn, went to the outside for the drive and closed stoutly, but was no match for the winner. HOPEFUL REWARD, outrun early, closed with some speed, but was not dangerous. PADUCAH raced evenly while saving ground, but was unable to engage the leaders. MEAT BALL had some early speed, made a futile bid to reach the winner on the far turn, then weakened badly. LESTABERT could not keep up. Overweight Lestabert, 1 pound; Hopeful Reward, 2.
