ELIZABETH GRAHAM Will fly here from New York to see her unbeaten two-year-old, Jet Pilot, and the queenly Beaugay perform today at Arlington Jet Pilot Goes in Former Stake While Filly Race Lures Beaugay Unbeaten Maine Chance Two-Year-Old Meets Education, Preoccupy and Thirteen Others at Arlington; Stablemate Tops Nineteen-Horse Field in Making Her Seasonal Debut ARLINGTON PARK, Arlington Heights, 111., June" 21. Fanciers of fine thoroughbreds throughout the country can hardly afford to keep their eyes away from this well-appointed course tomorrow when the thirty-fourth running of the 0,000 Hyde Park Stakes and the fourth renewal of the 5,000 Princess Doreen Stakes bring out a number of the nations leading speedsters in the juvenile and three-year-old filly division. The double-barreled feature will be the second and third offerings of the ambitious stakes program fashioned to attract the leading thoroughbreds during the combined meetings at Arlington and Washington Parks. On this score, the Hyde and Princess Doreen has exceeded all expectations. With few possible exceptions, Benjamin F. Lindheimer, executive director of the two courses, could hardly have selected more representative fields had he been able to hand pick the contestants. The very appearance of the latest juvenile sensation, Jet Pilot, and the comeback of the queenly Beaugay, who earned recognition as the leading two-year-old of last season, would ordinarily be enough to assure a good turnout even were they booked to face mediocre opposition, but neither of these thoroughbreds have anything resembling soft touches on their agenda. Arlington Park, consequently, probably will be taxed to near capacity when the fields for these rich fixtures parade to the post. Winner of Four -Straight With the bright rays of the sun, which has been conspicuous by its absence since the sweltering opening day, flashing drying rays on the track today, prospects for a fast racing strip tomorrow appeared in the offing. Jet Pilot, the fancy Maine Chance speedster who has shown his heels to the top colts and geldings of the East since beginning his hard campaign in the spring at Kentucky, is the big attraction of the Hyde Park, but apparently local horsemen hold only a small amount of respect for the speedy chestnut son Blenheim n. Black Wave, by Sir Gallahad m. No less than 16 youngsters have been entered overnight in the five and one-half furlong sprint and most of them have displayed enough promise in their revious races to earn a crack at the rugged colt. Jet Pilot is a tough little fellow who takes all tracks and conditions in stride. He made his first start of the season at Churchill Downs and came home an easy winner. His next appearance was at Pim-lico and in a two-horse race he outgamed the shifty Shaffie. From there he moved up Continued on Pape Thirty Jet Pilot and Beaugay Go at Arlington Today Head Fields for Renewals of Hyde Park and Princess Doreen Continued from Page One to Belmont Park for the National Stallion Stakes and once again he asserted complete mastery over his rivals. In his latest effort he was snugged to a galloping victory in the Tremont Stakes at Aqueduct, which gives him the unique record of starting four times at four different tracks and winning them all. Local turfites who witnessed the powerful effort turned in by Mrs. Frederick W. Hoopers Education last Saturday, at Hawthorne are among those who are inclined to view Jet Pilots claim to the divisional title with an air of cynicism. That they were impressed with the rangy son of Ariel would he putting it mildly. When the black phantom showed his heels to the heralded Preoccupy in no uncertain manner they tabbed him as a youngster who was likely to succeed against the best in the division. Preoccupy, from the John Marsch barn, also retains a few loyal admirers, despite being subdued by Education. Then there is Milkwagonjoe, who showed excellent form in his bow here this week after sharing a division of the Hialeah Juvenile Stakes with Education in Florida. Others in the field who have shown enough speed in previous starts to merit some consideration in the Hyde Park are Colonel OF, Wise Port, Bobs Birthday, Patmiboy, Jett Jett, Chicalmo, Gables-town, Tweets Boy, Pappys Pride, Mountebank, Flash ONight and Cosmic Bomb. Like her younger stablemate, Beaugay will undoubtedly be favored when she parades for the Princess Doreen, which will be contested at six furlongs, but she, too, will haveher work cut out against a field of 19 three-year-old fillies who have been prepped especially for the valuable event. Because of her brilliant winning feats of last season she will carry the top impost of 121 pounds. It may be said that Beaugay is one of the most fortunate unfortunate horses in training today. She was fortunate last season when she swept everything before her while winning six consecutive races and the two-year-old championship, but her bad luck came when in the Futurity Stakes at Belmont Park she crashed through the fence during the stretch run of the sprint and for a time it was feared that she would never again face the barrier. However, she . responded to treatment and was brought back to the training track during the winter at Santa Anita. From there she was shipped to Arlington Park, where a costly fire cause the death of virtually the entire Maine Chance stable. She was one of the few horses saved from the holocaust. Others in the Princess Doreen are Sea Snack, Roman Belle, Plucky Maid, American Wave, Ariel Song, Bogle, Maud Lea, Sly Tigress, Pomps Gal, Breezy Louise, Buzzaround, Cashier, Pristine, Forgetme-now, Green Shed, Sugar Lump, Me Again and First Page. Mrs. Earl Kelleys Loango too top honors in the second. This pair combined to return ,416.60 in the Daily Double, which is a record for the season in Illinois. Bright Stage paid 30,20, 0,40 and 3,20, while Loango returned 7.40, .80, and .80 in the straight mutuels.
