Novice Rider John Perron Wins Third Race in as Many Mounts FAIR GROUNDS, Detroit, Mich., June 21. Three-year-old sprinters went in the six furlongs of the Bob Baker Purse, fifth and best offering at the Fair Grounds today, and the outcome was watched with interest, principally because of the presence of R. S. McLaughlins Wee Admiral. The weather remained cloudy, but the track was drying out rapidly and a fast strip has beer eagerly awaited since last Saturday. Novice riders were inaction in the opening race and for tfie. first time at the meeting more than eight horses were permitted to start in a contest exclusively for these youngsters when nine faced starter Bryan Steele. Some 13,000 patrons were on hand to see novice John Perron guide A. J. Halliwells Ever Star to victory slightly more than a length before Miss M. Demersts Marcap as Mrs. Lottie Wolfs Wolfs Sambo earned a nose verdict over C and K Stables Mr. X. for the show award. Perron, who is from Montreal, Canada, and under contract to Halliwell, has accepted only three mounts and has won with them all. Ever Star returned and was timed in 1:17 over a good track.
