Mother, Cosmic Missile Seen In Good Kentucky Oaks Works CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., April 30. — Two candidates for Fridays seventy-third Kentucky Oaks, 5,000 fixture as old as the Derby, concluded their important preparatory activity in private trials here this morning. They were Mother, owned by C. V. Whitney, and the Circle M Farms Cosmic Missile, the probable post choice. Trainer B. B. Williams sent Cosmic Missile a brisk, yet handily done, three-quarters for which she was timed in 1:13%, while Mother breezed five furlongs in 1:03%. The latter miss is trained by S. E. Veitch. The fillies had fast footing, but with the "dogs" in place had to do their running about 12 feet out from the inner rail. Cosmic Missile, who last Monday worked a mile in 1:45 at Keeneland, reached the end of four furlongs in todays trial in :48%, while Mother completed the same listance in :49%. Besides Cosmic Missile and Mother, the Daks, a test over one mile and a sixteenth, s expected to engage Eslie Asburys 3rownian, Calumet Farms Jane Gail and Happiness, J. A. Goodwins Ballarita, A. B. Hancocks Blue Grass, H. P. Headleys 2heck Please and Antigone, Mrs. H. C. Judy, Jr.s, Hipparete, Torrance, C. Melroses Mel Van Orman, Mrs. A. Sabaths Say Blue and possibly others.
