OFF AT 5:221 CENTRAL STANDARD TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. JANE GAIL, never far back, went to the front after three-eighths, held a clear lead entering the stretch and then held HAPPINESS safe. The latter, on the outside and outrun to the final quarter, closed fast under punishment. END OF STRIFE, a sharp factor throughout, could not reach the winner near the finish and was overconfidently handled, losing second place to HAPPINESS. BLUE GRASS faltered after racing prominently to the final furlong. GALLOWAY could not keep up. TURF failed to rally when roused for the drive. HESAWAY tired. GOTHAM, fractious at the post, showed little. TANGLED MISS began fast, made the pace for three-eighths, then quit. ALICE SHERRILL, bothered at the first turn and forced to take up nearing the upper turn, was taken out for the stretch run and, responding to punishment, disposed of the leaders to win going away. PIPLAD, in hand until near the stretch, bothered FRANK MUNNS while taking command, continued gamely, but was unable to hold the winner. ROY JAY went to the front early, made the pace for three-quarters, then faltered. FRANK MUNNS bore in badly after the start, hit ALICE SHERRILL, then moved up strongly on the final turn, impeded by PIPLAD and failed to threaten thereafter.
