Saggy Heads Small but Speedy Field Of Six in Ral Parr Stakes at Pimlico Will Meet Brandy Punch * Again in ,500 Event; Citation Calumet Hope PIMLICO, Baltimore, Md., April 30.— Mrs. Stanley Sagners brilliant two-year-old Saggy, who set a disputed worlds record for four and one-half furlongs in capturing Hacre de Graces recent Aberdeen Stakes, heads a small but stylish field of six juveniles mustered for tomorrows ,500 Ral Parr Stakes, fourth of the Maryland Jockey Clubs spring fixtures. Saggys chief rival in the four and one-hlaf furlong test is Cedar Farms fine colt. Brandy Punch, who closed an odds-on choice to annex the Aberdeen honors, but like the others, was completely routed as Saggy turned on a brilliant burst of speed to author an official worlds record of :514/5 for four and one -half furlongs around a turn. Although private dockers caught the chestnut son of Swing and Sway — Chant-ress a full second slower, their time of :52% still constituted a track record for the Havre de Grace course. Saggy received five pounds from Brandy Punch in the Aberdeen, but the two are levelly weighted tomorrow under 122 pounds. They are the highweights in the field which also comprises Calumet Farm 3 Citation 117, Alfred Vanderbilts Brass Band 114, Christiana Stables Spurette 111. and Ella. K. Brysons Equibit 117. Saggy, who now has won the only three starts of his career, again will be handled by the capable Allan Gray and although he meets Brandy Punch at equal weights, the remarkably swift colt most certainly will rule a stanch favorite to keep his record unblemished. Incidentally, Saggy will ► Mrs. Sagner, the Baltimore sportswoman, having only recently been presented the colt by her husband as a birthday gift. Until he met defeat in the Aberdeen, Brandy Punch had won two straight races and it was his impressive triumph in Bowies Kindergarten Stakes that gained him such stout support in the Aberdeen. The handsome brown son of Milkman — Sea Cradle overcame the disadvantage of a poor start to engage Saggy in brisk battle during the early stages of the Aberdeen, but, like the others, he was completely engulfed by the latters sheer speed in the closing strides. Brandy Punchs trials over the local course indicate he has retained his fine edge and he again is expected to prove a capable adversary. Citation, trained by the clever Jimmy Jones, was a winner at first asking at Havre de Grace, the royally-bred bay son of Bull Lea — Hydroplane racing four and one-half furlongs over a slow track in the commendable time of :54% to defeat a group of highly-promising maidens. The manner in which Citation responded to urging to run down his rivals in the stretch was particularly pleasing to trainer Jones who has maintained the colt was one of the Calumet Farms most promising juveniles. Brass Band, the Vanderbilt colorbearer, also launched his racing debut in the race won by Citation and was a clever third after closing with boundless energy in the stretch drive. Equibit finished third in the Aberdeen Stakes in his last start, but the Brysonite was six lengths off the leaders at the wire, and must reveal marked improvement tomorrow if he hopes to cope successfully with such stalwarts as Saggy and Brandy be racing tomorrow for the first time forpunch.
