Tudor Minstrel Easily Best In Two Thousand Guineas NEWMARKET, England, April 30 Reuters.— Tudor Minstrel, favorite for the Epsom Derby, showed he was in a class by himself over the distance of one mile by cantering away with Britains first classic, the Two Thousand Guineas, here this afternoon. It was a case of "The Minstrel" first and the rest nowhere, although the second and third horses finished so close together, eight lengths behind the winner, that the judges had to ask for a photograph before deciding that Princess Aly Khans colt, Sara van, had beaten the Gaekwar of Barodas Sayajirao, more popularly known as "Young Date," by a short head. While unbeaten Tudor Minstrel fulfilled all the good things spoken of him, Sir Alfred Butts Petition failed dismally. He dashed into the tapes and unseated his jockey before the start, but he was away with the rest of the field, only to capitulate after running six furlongs when racing alongside Tudor Minstrel. Petition was heavily backed at 5 to 2, with Tudor Minstrel an 11 to 8 favorite. Saravan started at 25 to 1 and Sayajirao at 33 to 1.
