Five Atlantic City Stakes Close for Nominations Today ATLANTIC CITY, Mays Landing, N. J.. April 30. — Midnight tomorrow May 1 will mark the deadline for nominations to five stakes which will feature the spring meeting at the local track, a span of 21 days which opens Monday, May 26. Each carries 0.-000 in added money, with two being at six furlongs, two at a mile and an eighth and titled the Worlds Playground Stakes. First of the sprints is the Inaugural Handicap for three-year-olds and upward, with the Mermaid on May 31 being open to horses of the same age but limited to fillies and mares. The Absecon.-for three-year-olds, will be renewed on June 7, this being first of the mile and a furlong stakes. The following Saturday brings the Boardwalk Handicap at a like distance and open to older horses as well.
