SARALEE C. opened a quick lead, was steadied along in advance, responded to pressure in the drive and just failed to last. LITTLE SPOOKY improved his position after a slow start, but was unable to reach the leaders. KINGSW00D MISS, forwardly placed on the inside, failed to respond for the drive. STUD POKER broke slowly, saved ground while improving his position, but was not good enough. JOES SUN raced on the outside throughout. RIVER MILL was through after a half. The others were outrun. LIBERTY ANDY, forwardly placed on the outside for three furlongs, moved into command with a rush and drew out to win easily. ATOMIC WAVE moved to the front at once, was allowed to widen advantage, then weakened when challenged. AIR BRAKES broke slowly, was sent up between horses and finished with good courage. HAN, outrun for five furlongs, finished fast on the outside. GERHAM broke alertly, remained with the pace to the final turn, then weakened. F0XWICK passed tiring horses. BEL BEAU went evenly. SCARLETT VIXEN, hustled from the start, engaged GLADYS H. on the turn, was moving to the front when she ducked in, shutting off GLADYS H., then continued on under a drive and drew away. The latter broke alertly, saved ground on the inside, was forced to take up sharply when impeded, recovered and finished stoutly. MUSIC MISS slipped through on the inside from the quarter pole to finish willingly. ROYAL PIGEON was between horses on the turn in close quarters. PLEASEMENOW weakened after a quarter. SPEEDEE BOZO broke alertly, engaged the leaders to the stretch turn, then weakened. NEEDLE FAN was never a serious factor. SAFE BET broke slowly. A claim of foul against the winner was allowed and GLADYS H. was placed first and SCARLET VIXEN was placed second. FOURTH RACE 3-4 MILE out of chute. Appealing, July 26, 1937— 1:09% — 4— 117. FOXY NETTIE, hustled to gain early contention, was steadied back of the pace for a half, moved up to engage the leader while still in hand, then moved into a clear lead and had speed in reserve. WINDHOVER, slow to settle into best stride, closed willingly under pressure. HYGROS GINGER opened a comfortable lead in the first quarter, was allowed to widen advantage, then had nothing left at the end. CAROLINE F. showed a good effort. KNOW HOW, fractious at the gate, broke slowly, then improved position steadily under urging. OUR VICTORY had no mishap. SUNSPARK raced evenly. MIGUELITO had brief early speed. CECROPS, under light restraint early, was sent up on the outside leaving the backstretch, engaged the leaders from the furlong pole and forged to the front in the final yards. SUNSHADE, steadied back of the pace, assumed a short lead nearing the sixteenth pole, but was unable to hold the winner. BEE W BEE raced CLAREMONT MISS into submission, drew out slightly in the final quarter, then tired. PORT CHESTER stumbled leaving the gate, recovered quickly, was allowed to settle into stride, then closed with a rush on the outside. GREEN CRYSTAL went evenly GLASTER had no mishap. CHANCE PLAYER, under restraint while close up, responded to steady pressure, raced on even terms with JUSTA NOTE to the final yards, then forged to the front JUSTA NOTE broke alertly, remained in close attendance of NAVAL BASE for six furlongs, moved into command when set down, drew out, then held on gamely when challenged. NAVAL BASE held on tenaciously when surrendering command, but was not good enough. REAL SHORT, slow to start, moved up stoutly under pressure in the final furlong. FEARLESS, well up on the inside under light restraint, responded when called on, assumed command and drew away with ease. ANOTHER BEL assumed command early, drew clear, was steadied along under light restraint, saved ground and held on well when challenged. LOSTAHAT, slow to begin, was not hustled while improving position on the inside, threatened entering the stretch, then raced evenly. CHOW, unable to hold early advantage, was taken under restraint for six furlongs, then failed to respond to intermittent pressure. POMPAGLE, forwardly placed, failed to rally under pressure. ESCORT forced the early pace and weakened. SPARTACUS was caught in close quarters entering the backstretch and never recovered. BIRTHMARK, well handled while kept off the pace, moved through on the inside to draw into contention nearing the furlong pole, then came between horses under pressure to wear down the leaders. SWEEPNACK. under strong restraint for six furlongs, closed fast on the outside under stout urging and just missed. EVERPLAYFUL was sent through on the inside into a clear lead nearing the furlong pole, then faltered. CAMERA MAN was forwardly placed, but was not good enough.
