Greentree Trio to Seek Preakness, Dixie Honors Blue Border, Wide Wing Have Designs on 00,000 Fixture PIMLICO, Baltimore, Md., April 30.— The Greentree Stable, an establishment which has contributed many interesting chapters to the turf history of this historic race course, will be represented here next week by a division which will include thoroughbreds eligible for the 00,000 Preakness and 0,000 Dixie Handicap, the two richest stakes of the current meeting. John M. Gaver, trainer of the Greentree Stable, today notified Maryland Jockey Club officials that he plans to ship three thoroughbreds to Pimlico from Long Island over the coming week-end. Heading the group will be the three-year-old brown colt, Blue Border, Greentree s stoutest candidate for this years Preakness renewal on Saturday, May 10. Blue Border, a son of Bime-lech — Blade of Time, was one of the leading two-year-olds of 1946, capturing the Grand Union Hotel Stakes and Hopeful Stakes at Saratoga to conclude his juvenile season with earnings of 2,125. Blue Border has been under silks only twice this season so far, finishing fifth in the first division of the Experimental Free Handicap and eighth in the first division of the Wood Memorial. The general feeling exists, however, that Blue Border has as yet to run his best race and it may well develop that the fine colt will regain his top form in the Preakness running. Blue Border, a son of Bimelech — Blade of Time, was one of the leading two-year-olds of 1946, capturing the Grand Union Hotel Stakes and Hopeful Stakes to conclude his juvenile season with earnings of 2,125. Blue Border has been under silks three times this season. He finished fifth in the first division of the Experimental Free Handicap; eighth in the first division of the Wood Memorial, and last Saturday returned to winning form to capture the six furlongs Universe Handicap at Jamaica, leading home Colonel OF, Johnny Dimick and Keynote. Gaver also plans to transfer the five-year-old gelding, Coincidence, to Pimlico, provided the bay son of Questionnaire — Small World performs to expectations in Saturdays Grey Lag Handicap at Jamaica Coincidence indicated his return to top form last week when he drove to a surprising triumph over Polynesian and other top handicap stars in the Excelsior Handicap. Coincidence has been in the money in all three of his starts this season after winning four of 15 races in 1946. Barring mishap, Coincidence will be Greentree Stables chief hope in the 0,000 Dixie Handicap on Friday, May 9, the day preceding the Preakness running.
