Randall Management Refuses Farriers Bonus Demands RANDALL PARK, North Randall, Ohio, May 20. Declaring the petition "not feasible" and against the "economical structure of operation of a race track," the demands by local unionized blacksmiths for a bonus for shoeing of each winner was turned down here today by John G. Masoni, executive secretary of the Randall Park Racing Association, Inc. The farriers had asked for a 5 award for each winning horse shod at the meeting. This request was made in spite of the statement carried in the book of racing conditions that no such bonuses would be given. Prior to meeting with blacksmiths, Masoni conferred with a committee representing the Horsemens Benevolent and Protective Association, Inc., at which it was stated the horsemen were not in sympathy with payment of any awards. The group named at a meeting yesterday comprised James S. Jones, Clyde Lee, E. A. Murphy, N. Thomas and J. K. Powers and also included R. J. "Dick" Farris, secretary-treasurer of the HBPA in the Kentucky division. In addition to not being in sympathy with the farriers request, horsemen explained the matter was "not an issue of the horsemen." The blacksmiths committee which met with Masoni was headed by Bert Conrad.
