Initial Running of Breeders7 Stakes On Todays Havre de Grace Card Pimlico Nursery Winner, i Equibit, Carries 125-Pound Burden in Homebred Race HAVRE DE GRACE, Md., May 20. The ,000 Havre de Grace Breeders Stakes, for two-year-olds, foaled in Maryland, drew an overnight field of eight for its first running here tomorrow. This stake presents the richest prize of the currerft meeting for juveniles in this category, and a much larger field had been anticipated, especially since the four and one-half furlongs dash had closed with 135 nominations. Only six interests are represented in the overnight line-up, with Christiana Stable and Mrs. Robert H. Heighe both having named two-horse entries. Christianas col-orbearers will be Mark Up and Theodore, while Mrs. Heighe, who maintains Prospect Hill Farm, near Bel Air, entered Kashmir and Winterberry. Under the stakes conditions of the midweek feature, Ella K. Brysons shifty bay colt, Equibit, who earned ,095 in scoring a smart victory in the recent Pimlico Nursery Stakes, will be the starting high-weight under 125 pounds. This burden represents three pounds more than the bay son of Equator Long Bit shouldered in the five furlongs Nursery, in which he trounced a good field in 1:01. Theodore is next in line in the weights, the bay gelded son of Briarlet Teddys Own being slated to carry 122 pounds. The others and their weights are: Mark Up, 118; Winterberry, 115; Mrs. E. duPont Weirs Eireann, 118; Kashmir, 118; Miss Mary Harts Mary Ann, 119, and S. W. Labrot, Jr.s Tandis, 115. It is regrettable that Mrs. Weir neglected to enter her fine chestnut filly, Christmas-tide, who registered a brilliant victory in the Pimlico version of the Breeders Stakes, in tomorrows feature. However, the Wilmington sportswoman will have a capable standard bearer in Eireann, who ran second behind her stablemate in the Pimlico race. Eireann may be cut to be a real good filly, and the chestnut daughter of Stagehand Hills of Eireann, may vie with Equibit for favoritism. Mary Ann, a bay daughter of Jamestown Kothra, who was bred by Janon Fisher at the Caves Farm, also performed in the Pimlico Breeders Stakes and finished fourth after racing with the early pace. The Christiana tandem of Mark Up and Theodore earns a good figure with Theodore, perhaps, the most formidable of the two. Theodore graduated from the maiden ranks in smart fashion at the Pimlico meeting, revealing fine speed to turn four and one-half furlongs in :55. Prior to that effort the gelding was second behind Alfred Vanderbilts shifty colt Newsweekly. Both Winterberry and Kashmir, the Heighe colorbearers, are maidens, but have shown high promise in recent starts. Kashmir was third behind Newsweekly and Theodore in his last start, while Winterberry was second to the improved Dr. Almac in a race here last Friday. Tomorrows feature is the second in a series of races for Maryland-foaled two-year-olds, the first of which was held at Pimlico. The third and final race of the series will be held during the fall meeting at Bowie. Next year, each of Marylands four major tracks will card such a race in an effort to stimulate home-breeding. - Of secondary interest on the program is the five furlongs Perry Point Purse, which also drew a field of seven two-year-olds. Trainer Jimmy Jones will saddle a pair of shifty Calumet juveniles in Citation and Whirl Some in the Perry Point and the entry most likely will rule a pronounced favorite in the five furlongs event. Opposing the Calumet pair will be William Helis Grand Entry; Mrs. E. S. Per-shalls Cathie Jean; J. W. Frazers Phara-dine; Shamrock Stables Star Maker, and Christiana Stables Little Tony. The latter, a dark bay son of Briarlet Marcella Miss, will be making his first start.
