Respire Registers by Three Open Lengths at Suffolk SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., May 23. Sam Garfield, prominent Lynn, Mass., shoe manufacturer, saw his speedy Respire tread lightly over the muddy course to convincingly triumph in the Suffolk Purse, six-furlong dash that headlined a rather mediocre program here this afternoon. Virtually a co-choice in the wagering, Respire left little doubt as to the ultimate outcome once he found his stride on the backstretch. Opening up a wide advantage "on the turn, he was then ridden vigorously by the apprentice, Jose Espinosa, through the stretch to register by three open lengths. C. Lusskys Spirsilla came along in the late stages with good speed and, while in no manner ever a threat, managed to beat V. L. Creals steady Quien Es by a length for the show. The latter was slightly favored in the wagering on the strength of three consecutive victories over this strip.
