Three Dixiana Charges Seen in Useful Trials Spy Song, Four Winds and Star Reward Turn In Good Efforts HAWTHORNE, Cicero, 111., May 23. Jack C. Hodgins, trainer for Charles T. Fishers Dixinia, sent three of his better charges to the "good" training track this morning for trials. Spy Song, speedy but erratic son of Balladier and Mati Hari, winner of the 1946 renewal of the Hawthorne Sprint Handicap, breezed a half mile in :51. Four Winds, another homebred and the daughter of Sweep All Miss Toro, who accounted for the Arlintgon Lassie Stakes last year, breezed five furlongs in 1:04, going quite easily throughout her move. Star Reward, who gave a splendid performance in the 1947 renewal of the Kentucky Derby, breezed six furlongs in 1:18 and he made a very impressive appearance, the black colt going quite steadily in the work, which was highly satisfactory to trainer Hodgins. H. C. Dodson, who conditions the Mrs. Albert Sabath Stable thoroughbreds, had the crack filly, Say Bluej ,out for a jfive- eighths breeze and the quick daughter of Blue Larkspur completed her task over the dull footing in 1:04. Say Blue, who rapped herself while training for the Kentucky Oaks, appears to be completely recovered. She is remembered by Illinois patrons for her victory in the 1946 Princess Pat Stakes at Washington Park. Mrs. Emil Denemarks Bullish, who Is showing decided improvement under the supervision of trainer Robert McGarvey, also was on the Hawthorne strip and he worked a mile in 1:43, moving along handily for the entire eight furlongs. Bullish, who finished second to Gotham in his only start of the current season, is expected to meet top-class company on the Illinois circuit during his 1947 campaign, and he appeared ready for a severe test.
