Royal Governor Captures Second Delaware Stake Follows Wilmington Score With Duplicate Effort in Brandywine DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., May 30. Mrs. Esther duPont Weirs Royal Governor, winner of Saturdays Wilmington Handicap, turned in a reasonably exact facsimile of that effort in accounting for the mile and a sixteenth Brandywine Handicap, feature of the Memorial Day program at this course. The winning son of Pilate and Feathers, in winning the Wilmington, established a new six-furlong record for the race and came within one-fifth of a second of the track mark. This afternoon he accomplished the same feat, for his time of 1:42 was a new standard for the event and was again one-fifth of a second from the record held by Plucky Maud and Natchez. ! With jockey Pete McLean accomplishing a saddle double, Royal Governor was the second choice with the large turnout of 27,000 fans and paid .10. His margin of victory over Greentree Stables Coincidence was five lengths, with Hamandy Farms Marchons II. just a neck farther back.
