B., a keen factor from the start, reached the lead between calls during the drive, but was unable to hold the winner. BLUE SEAL raced evenly to the stretch, then finished resolutely under punishment. CLEAN SLATE went to the front at the start and made the pace to the last furlong, then faltered. CHECKERHALL raced evenly and pulled up sore. MAZARINE was outrun. FERTILE LANDS was never dangerous.
