Illinois Notes LINCOLN FIELDS-AT WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, 111., May 30. Jockey Ike Bassett checked in from Churchill Downs and plans to ride free lance at this session. Steve Ippolito, owner of Atom Buster, Ray O Sullivan and Rail Puller, turned the trio over to his brother, Anthony, to condition for the remainder of this meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Damm are visitors for the week-end from their home in Indianapolis, Ind. They have horses here in charge of Milton Rieser. j ! Owner-trainer R. B. Allen brought in Oleo, Perfidy and San Faro from Churchill Downs. Charles Towle sold the three-year-old filly, Sadie Brown, to the combined interests of J. Lee and H. Guy today at private terms. Towle will continue as trainer of Sadie Brown. Acting for Norman J. Miller, trainer Leslie Thompson today purchased, in a private transaction, Poppa George from William H. Bishop. Three two-year-olds, Tea Dance, Hot Tack and Go Hardy, were added to the string Milton Resseguet is training here. The trio, property of the partners, W. F. and C. V. Sparks, was sent here from their farm near East St. Louis, 111. Adolph Mathis, turf scribe for the Cincinnati-Time Star, was on hand today to represent his paper and witness the Pea-body Memorial before returning to the Queen City. Trainer Roy B. Cameron sent H. E. Johnsons Miss Apropos to River Downs where George Griswold will condition her during the meeting there, which opens Wednesday. Samada, owned by S. H. Coons, has been sent to a farm near here to be turned out for the summer, reported Cameron. Steve Hannigan, former publicity director at Arlington Park, was a visitor here Saturday, having journeyed from New York. He returned to that point today and leaves soon for Europe, where he will remain to tour five countries. Etelka, a three-year-old filly, the property of Mrs. V. E. Smith, was turned over to J. M. Goode to condition after arriving from a farm near Witamora, Mich. C. H. Pinon added to his list Fosters Pride, Pennant pWar, and Wise Wonder after they arrived here from one of the New England circuit tracks. The trio belongs to H. Kennedy. William A. Mikel today acquired May Fly from William H. Bishop in a private transaction. J. D. Mikel will train the six-year-old Sweep All mare. Paul L. Kelley returned over the weekend from Miami, Fla., where he spent several days with his family. His brother, Earl, had charge of the large string he has here while absent. Daniel Boone Hickey has taken over the riding engagements of jockey Larry Grubb for the season. Grubb is plying his trade free lance here.
