BRIGHT PLAYER was hustled into the lead soon after the start, was well rated while saving ground throughout and won as his rider pleased. HEDGETHORN raced close to the pace from the start, but was no match for the winner in the final stages. VIM, in closest pursuit of the pace, faltered slightly when called upon for the final drive. ONE UP, away slowly and racing on the outside, closed a good gap. YIPIYADEE was rushed into command along the inside soon after the start and stood off CONSIDERED in a rousing finish. The latter was away quickly, raced closest to the pace, made a determined bid rounding the stretch turn, but was no match for the winner. PRO TANTO took command soon after the start, but gave way to the top pair after going three-bixteenths. TROMBEJIM ran an even race. PEACE THEATRE had no excuse. ILLINI reared and fell at the start. CEE VEE, well off the pace for the first three furlongs, began improving his position on the inside nearing the stretch, was in close quarters momentarily, but closed with a rush when clear. FLYING NUN rushed into contention on the outside from a slow beginning, but could not match the winners late rush. BERNHERVIE raced prominently from the beginning and got up in the final stride to overtake MISS ROUNDERS. The latter, close to the early pace, assumed command entering the stretch, but gave way steadily in the final sixteenth. ACCIPITER showed a good effort. CHOICE CUT, in close pursuit of TANNETTE, disposed of the latter after a half-mile, but was no match for the winner in the final quarter mile. WHATACARD, away slowly, improved his position steadily and continued gamely in the final stages to dispose of WAR ANCHOR in the final strides. WAR ANCHOR ran an .race-. MONMOUTH showed a good effort. WOODFORD SIR was rushed to the front rounding the first turn, opened up a long lead, but was under hard urging to withstand the late rush of SEAWARD. The latter, allowed to settle into best stride going down- the backstretch, went to the outside rounding the final turn and closed with a rush through the final quarter. RINGNECK moved into contention rounding the final turn, but could hot gain on the top pair in the final quarter. REIGH JANE had no excuses. IKE JUNIOR was devoid of speed. NOMORWAR, fractious at the gate, broke alertly, was rushed into contention while losing ground rounding the first turn on the outside, was sent to the front approaching the half-mile pole and held sway thereafter. HOULGATE, well back of the pace for the first half-mile, took to the inside rounding the stretch turn and closed well. BRIGHT WARRIOR, always close to the early pace, gave a good effort. SECURITY raced well but was unable to threaten the leaders. SIR RAL FRIAR gave a good effort. TRANSHOT had no excuse. KILLEYBEGS and SALFORD II. were outrun.
