Ascot Park Will Unveil New Clubhouse Saturday Expected to Eliminate Congestion On Big Days at Akron Course ASCOT PARK, Akron, Ohio, May 30. The usual activities preparatory to the beginning of a meeting are currently under way at this three-quarters mile course, under the direction of Ascot Park Jockey Club general manager Dan E, Cronin. The general process of refurbishing has been placed in high gear, with the work being centered specifically on the new clubhouse, which will have its official unveiling at a press and social buffet dinner to be held on Thursday. The meeting itself will be inaugurated for 38 days of sport this coming Saturday, June 4. The innovation of a clubhouse has been an expensive item to the Ascot Park Jockey Club, but one which Cronin deems well worthwhile. Long considered one of the most beautiful small courses in the country, it now has received added distinction with this new feature, which greatly enhances the general appearance and will add comfort with its luxurious appointments as well as relieve the former congestion on days of large attendance. Over 700 people may be conveniently accommodated in the clubhouse which is smartly decked out with a green and "white canvas awning covering the upper veranda. This porch deck is comprised of box seats, behind which is the large and spacious dining room. Mutuel windows are situated on the lower floors, behind a space of general standing room and a beautifully verdant lawn. Last year a new paddock was erected, which has undergone a face lifting treatment for this season. This saddling enclosure is conveniently located for the public, and is in the open where it may be viewed from all sides. The parking lot has also received considerable attention, being enlarged and graveled extensively for the larger attendance expected for this summer meeting.
