1 s 3 5 2 5 Daily Racing Form Speed Ratings The handicappers and statisticians of DAILY RACING FORM have evolved a Speed Rating system that is far superior to any yet devised. Instead •f being based merely en track records, the ratings are based primarily on the constant, or mean, speed of the track, allowances thas being made for variation in footing. By this method, when a horse earns a rating of, say S5, for a six-furlong race at Belmont Park, he earns the same rating by the same ■ - * effort at any other track. Speed ratings are shown in the past performances after the claiming price or race classification.
