Toughen Pinehursts No. 2 Course for Ryder Matches By the United Press Tournament director Richard Tufts announced that Pinehursts No. 2 golf course will be toughened for the 1951 Ryder Cup matches scheduled November 2-4. Tufts said he would revise three holes to make the links stretch over 7,000 yards, compared to its present 6,952. He said a number of bunkers also will be replaced. The par-five tenth hole will be narrowed and one trap added, while the approach to the green will be limited to one left side strip. The hole measures 600 yards. Other changes will lengthen the fourth and sixteenth holes, both par five.
