J UP News Briefs Reds Massed Sixty Divisions UNITED NATIONS, N. Y., May 19.— Gen. Matthew B. Ridgway, United Nations supreme commander in Korea, reported today that Communist forces had massed more than 60 divisions for battle in their spring offensive against the UN Army. Allies. Halt Breakthrough TOKYO, Japan, May 19.— American, Dutch, French and South Korean troops halted the Chinese Communist breakthrough in Eastern Korea today. Troops of the U. Control of the area, according to the dispatches, resulted after the Kremlin sent advisors to all key positions in the administrative branches of local government. U.S. Applies Pressure WASHINGTON, D. C, May 19.— The United States put pressure on both Great Britain and Iran today to settle their oil dispute through negotiation. Record Military Budget PARIS, France, May 19.— The French National Assembly passed a record military budget of ,115,000,000 today by a vote of 414 to 177. The assemblymen will meet Tuesday for their last meeting before the nationwide general elections June 17.
