HEDDY B. raced in close attendance to the early pace, responded to pressure from the outside during the stretch run and Wore down DARK BUCKLE. The latter raced SIMITE into defeat to gain a clear lead in the early stretch, then was unable to resist the top one. SIMITE set the pace under rating through the opening half mile, then was unable to retain the lead. BEST CHANCE raced evenly. BIG AND BAD dropped back steadily after displaying early speed and came back lame. RED DAWN was sore going postward. BLACK GOODS came back lame. THIN DIME, under strong restraint while in front early, drew clear on the turn, was roused sharply in the early stretch and held a commanding advantage while being ridden out. ROCKLYE, within striking distance early, was unable to menace the top one despite saving ground. ALETTA dueled for the early lead and dropped back steadily. ON BALANCE dropped far back immediately after the start and caught tired horses while moving through along the inside during the stretch run. SHOWY displayed speed, but could not keep up. BOLD sprinted to the front in the opening furlong, turned back the challenge of REPETOIRE after being engaged by that one entering the back-stretch, disposed of KNOWITALL later in the run along the backstretch, was snugged rounding the final turn and drew clear steadily while being mildly urged. COUNTERPOINT, rated within striking distance of the top ones, responded when roused for the drive, but was no match. ALERTED, steadied while formidable early, moved when called upon leaving the three-eighths ground, but faltered through the stretch. TIMELY REWARD, closer than usual early, lacked a rally when set down for the drive. HALL OF FAME was a factor early and weakened. BIG STRETCH was far back and showed no desire to extend himself. KNOWITALL moved through along the inside in an effort to wrest command along the backstretch, then faded when unsuccessful.
