Montreal Gives Hirschfeld To Red Wings for Couture DETROIT, Mich., June 19 UP.— The National Hockey League champion Detroit Red Wings traded veteran right winger Gerald "Doc" Couture today to the Montreal Canadiens for left wing Bert Hirschfeld and an undisclosed sum of money. A six-year man on the Red Wing squad, the 25-year-old Couture scored only seven goals during the past season. He was on the bench most of the campaign after being sidelined with injuries in December. Hirschfeld, 22, played 35 games in the NHL in the last two seasons, but spent a bulk of the time with Cincinnati in the American Hockey League. It was the second trade made by the Red Wings in two weeks. Earlier left winger Gaye Stewart was sent to the New York Rangers in exchange for another veteran left winger, Tony Leswick.
