ASCOT assumed command immediately, was rated to the stretch, drew clear when roused mildly and won handily. REWING closed with a rush when taken outside for the stretch run. CHIA MIA retained her position in the running while tiring. ETERNAL LIGHT,-fractious at the gate, showed speed while racing wide. GALWAY BOY was sluggish early and closed well when able to secure room. SUN LILLIAN and CIRCUIT JUDGE weakened early. TOUSSIANT raced with the pace to the stretch and flattened out badly. CORSICAN LASS displayed brief speed. THEATRE LADY was through early. MISS LYRIC raced GINOWAY into defeat in the early stretch and drew clear while being mildly urged. DAINTY STAR improved her position steadily and wore down GINOWAY. The latter held a clear lead to the stretch and gave way. SAUCY PLAY was rushedfrom a sluggish start and was hindered slightly when" her rider finished with liis feet out of the stirrups. FANCY DAN raced wide. GAME DAME closed willingly. SAPLING weakened. CHERWELL, allowed to lag during the early stages, improved his position steadily after the first "mile, attained command nearirig the final jump and was kept to pressure. TOPSFIELD assumed command after disposing of GENTLE STAR, held sway until displaced by the winner and held the others safe. ASTRONOMER lacked a response after racing in contention TIPTIME was easily best of the others. KILLARNEY MAID was through early. CALL ME GEORGE was-never a factor and made a very bad landing at the fifth jump. UMS raced well placed until he lost rider at the thirteenth obstacle.. GENTLE- STAR, in front early, bobbled badly at the tenth fence, tried to get out on the following turn, then fell, at the eleventh jump. .Scratched— 28126 Sultans War, 150. INDIVIDUATE saved ground while racing MERRY SIZZLE into defeat during the opening half mile, drew clear briefly in the early stretch and held on tenaciously when engaged by KING BUD. The latter rallied from just off the pace to reach the leader in midstretch, then was not good enough. ZEELAND broke out of hand and turned in a good effort from far back. MERRY SIZZLE faltered badly after duelling for the lead for a. half mile. AMERICAN NED failed to respond. TIDES sprinted clear early, saved ground - while holding a comfortable advantage, then was placed to pressure to hold MY NELL safe. The latter-responded to pressure through the stretch and made up ground steadily. EASTER MORN, slow to settle into stride, raced wide and closed with good. energy. BOLD BEAUTY moved over sharply at the start, raced in the runner-up position and gave way. BALLA-DUKE was knocked back at the start. NAPANGO, allowed to settle into stride, circled the field boldly nearing the stretch and, after drawing clear, held LOCK CONTROL safe. The .latter trailed to the stretch and closed with a rush from the outside. TOWNHOUSE, steadied within striking distance, lacked a sufficient rally.
