TRY IKE was sent to the front Z early, established a clear lead before entering the stretch, then faltered, but lasted to withstand ACTNICE, 3 pulling up sore. The latter saved ground throughout, closdd willingly under punishment, but could not overtake i| the winner. O. K. DOAK was unable to reach the leaders when set down through the stretch. MON SPEED £ began fast, engaged TRY IKE to the last eighth, then weakened. KY. HASH was outrun. DOLLYS IMAGE, well ridden, was forwardly placed after the start, responded well when set down for the stretch run and, after disposing of AUGUST, won going away. MR. EDD gradually improved position to the stretch, finished fast, but could not reach the top one. AUGUST took an early lead, made the pace to the final furlong while engaging DOLLYS IMAGE, then faltered. CLAY PIGEON failed to stay when set down through the stretch. GOLDEN COUNT tired after showing early speed. BOXIE began fast, but dropped back after the start.* GOTANOTION showed nothing. SHARP TOOL, roughed when caught between BOXIE and MR. BUSHEL, in hand to the stretch, responSed to punishment during the drive and, after racing by COUNTRY EDITOR, won going away. COUNTRY EDITOR made the pace to the stretch while engaging COOL JUDGMENT, disposed of the latter, but could not hold the winner. BIG HERALDER finished strongly in a good effort and had no- mishap. COOL JUDGMENT reached the lead between calls while racing with COUNTRY EDITOR to the stretch, then faltered. SKY TRAIN - could not keep up. BULLET CEE began alertly, but dropped back after the start and gave a dull effort, despite his riders effort to get him in the running. EIGHTH RACE 1 MILE AND 70 YARDS. ALS WAR DOG gradually improved his position after the initial quarter mile, swerved repeatedly when set down through the stretch and, bothering BANNER BOY, held the latter safe. BANNER BOY, never far back, was forced to go to the inside during the stretch run when bothered by ALS WAR DOG, closed gamely, but could not overtake the top one. HAPPY LEE raced well until inside the stretch, then weakened. WHACKER PRIDE went into command early, made the pace to the last eighth, but failed to stay during the last eighth mile. SHANTY GRUB was outrun and had no excuse. BILLS DIAMOND began poorly after behaving badly at the post. SURE MAC «as through early. Overweight— Shanty Grub, 3 pounds; Bills Diamond, 3; Sure Mac, 2.
