NEWS I -BRIEFS Truman Would Campaign for Kefauver WASHINGTON, D, C, May 22.— President Truman said today he would be happy to campaign for any of the announced Democratic presidential candidates, including Sen. Estes Kefauver. The chief executive denied a report that he was "not very enthusiastic" about Kefauver, saying he would be happy to campaign for the Ten-nesseean as well as any other of the Democrats who have come out for the presidency. Eisenhower Farewell Ceremonies Today PARIS, France, May 22. — Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower will say farewell to the central front headquarters of his command tomorrow, it was announced today. Marshal Alphonse Juin, of France, Eisenhowers top field commander and chief of the central sector of the North Atlantic pact command, will head the dignitaries on hand at the Fontainebleau headquarters for the ceremony; Consumer Prices Slightly Higher Washington, d. c, May 22. —The government said today consumer prices rose last month but not enough to prevent a one cent an hour cost-of-living wage cut for more than 1,000,000 CIO United Auto Workers. . Turns Down Israel Loan Request LONDON, England, May 22.— Prime Minister Winston Churchill has turned down a request from Israel for a ,000,000 loan to buy oil because of Britains own serious economic situation. Could Have Settled Dispute in 1950 WASHINGTON, D. C, May 22.— President Truman, pleased with the settlement of the three-year-old railroad wage dispute, said today he will return the lines to their private owners as soon as he can get the papers signed. Mr. Truman told his news conference that the dispute could have been settled, as it was last night, back in 1950. Allied Bombers Blast Red Supply Center SEOUL, Korea, May 22.— American and Australian fighter-bombers blasted a huge manufacturing and supply center near the North Korean capital of Pyongyang into flaming ruin today in one of the largest single air attacks of the Korean War.
