Hold Simmons Funeral Services This Afternoon HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Calif., May 22. — Friends of Thomas W. Simmons from the turf and business world will gather at the Church of the Recessional at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, at 1:00 p. m. tomorrow for funeral services for the popular sportsman and busihes sexecutive. Interment will be at Forest Lawn. One of the founders of the Hollywood Turf Club, Simmons had been a leader in the affairs of Hollywood Park since 1937, a year before the Inglewood tracks first meeting. He was president of the Holly wood Turf Club for f iye years and for the past six months had been chairman of the board. Soon after his graduation from the University of Indiana in Bloomington, where he was born 66 years ago, Simmons amassed a fortune in the importing and exporting business in San Francisco. Twenty-four years ago he moved toi Los Angeles and soon became one of the Wests most, prominent figures in oil and in business relating to irrigation. He was president of Thomas W. Simmons, Inc., the Johnston Pump Company, Simmons Oil Incorporated, Walken Oil Company and Johnston International and a director of the Simaroo Oil Company and the Western Oil and Gas Association.
