1 Daniel, Goemans, Janson Stables at Arlington Park Comprise Some Fifty Runners; Thomas, Milner Arrive From West ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, HI., May 22.— The early-bird population at Arlington Park has been swelled considerably this week with the arrival of racing secretary Ivan Thomas and his assistant, William "Bill" Milner, from the San Francisco, and nearly 50 thoroughbreds from the stables of Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Daniel, Edward M. Goemans, F. W. Janson and others. Milner, former jockey from Arcadia, Calif., will man the secretarys office at the Arlington Heights plant immediately, with Thomas moving in shortly to prepare for opening day, June 16. Goemans, a Milwaukee lawyer, is making his debut at Arlington-Washington this season, bringing a string of 14 runners from California. Among the top-notchers in the 14 horses shipped with trainer Roy Mutzenberg were three European imports — Royal Rainbow, Royal Spear II. and The Barrister in.— along with Curragh King and Continental. Royal Rainbow and Royal Spear both are nominees to the 5,-000 Arlington Matron, July 5. The Daniels string of il runners arrived from Louisville today and included another Matron eligible, Free For Me, winner of the first division of the Ashland Stakes; Jet Ace, candidate for the 00,000 Arlington Classic July 19, Ace Destroyer and Melody Maid. Topping Jansons six thoroughbreds from Knollwood Farm were Kukla, Matron nominee, and Rommel, who has been named for the classic. Meanwhile, track superintendent Clarence Brinkman announced that several major stables were expected to arrive at Arlington Park next week, with the main track scheduled to open soon after June 1. The mile training track has been open the past two weeks.
