RIPPLING HERO was sent after the leaders after a half mile, finished between horses and was gradually going away under strong urging. H00PDE-DONT, slow beginning, circled wide for the drive and loomed boldly in the early stretch, but hung. REINSTATE was under intermittent restraint while vying with HASHALONIA for the pace, shook free of that one for the drive, but weakened when punished. HIGH DESCENT was outrun. MARTHA PAULA did not respond. HASHALONIA keenly contested the pace for six furlongs and quit. LONE DEGREE gave a dull effort. ALFADUR raced within striking distance while in hand, was behind and betv/een horses on the final turn, then came to the outside for clear racing in the stretch drive and quickly responded to dispose of contention and win easily. KING OKAPI was ?uTcrn?my1 handling while setting the pace, drew clear for the stretch run but could not resist the winner. THIERCELIN challenged for the pace while running in choppy fashion and under pressure, then held on fairly well in the drive. SEA LOCATION always was well placed but lacked a rally. PINE VISION could not gain when set down. WIDE MARGIN was a prominent factor and weakened. SUNNYMAN had no excuse. NAVEGADOR gave a poor effort. Won ridden out; second and third driving. DANDOLO outbroke his field and was taken under a light hold, increased his advantage when roused for the stretch run but was doing his best at the end. SCHATZI raced in closest attendance to the winner throughout and finished well THOS E LYNCH raced wide on the turn, then was brought to the inside and closed some ground late. CHIEF LOCO made a good bid from the outside on the stretch turn but suddenly weakened near the end. COL. KIMBLE closed well after coming between horses at the head of the stretch. MR. STRAIGHT had no difficulty establishing command at the beginning, drew into a long lead on the final turn and responded when punished to hold his rivals clear. BACCALA was not far back, but lost ground rallying from the outside on the final turn and could not get up. JACK CARROLL responded when roused to challenge strongly from the inside in the early stretch, had to be steadied when the winner came over in front of him passing the furlong marker, then could not regain his speed. IDEALIST raced well placed, but did not seriously menace and weakened. BEAUS DREAM had no mishap. GOLDEN METEOR quit. OUR WORLD was nicely steadied behind the dueling top pair, rapidly came around them to take command when ready in the stretch run and won handily. FLYING PAT was under steady pressure and responded in the last stages to finish well. BARBAREBA lacked early speed but closed fast in the last quarter-mile. AFTER BIM gave an even effort. BIT OWHIZ was under intermittent urging vying for the pace with FLYING POLLY and faltered badly in the final furlong, as did FLYING POLLY. CARIDURO swerved badjy on the stretch turn, sloughinj RUSTY. ZEELAND was taken in hand after a good beginning, raced between horses off of the pace, came to the inside for the stretch drive, then closed fast to win going away. JERRYS BEST was slow to reach stride, came to the outside for the stretch drive and although attempting badly to lug in, closed fast. AGRARIAN-U was steadied within striking distance, made a game bid in the early stretch and hung. TEXAS REWARD, away slowly and unhurried, picked up speed rounding the final turn and, while having difficulty finding room on a winding course, closed fastest. TIDEHEAD lost ground while racing on the outside throughout. GNU was occasionally punished while vying for the lead from between horses and faltered. SHERRY had speed to the stretch and quit. COFFEE MONEY was well placed on the inside swerved out sharply entering the stretch, then fought it out with the winner, but hung. GENERAL STAFF was urged along behind the first flight, made a bold bid between horses in midstretch then hung as if short. WAR KING was hard pressed to dispose of SEA FAN and faltered in the final test. BLUE LANTERN had no mishap. SEA FAN was used up dueling for the pace and faltered. GINGER BOOTS was outrun. FREE PRESS was sent forwardly immediately, after setting in stride, wrested command from LIKE STONE on the final turn and drew easily for the fnish. LIKE STONE was under snug rating setting the pace, could not hold the winner but held on under punishment to best SNOWFLARES. The latter saved ground while a forward factor and finished well. TRUMPET KING, unable to contend early, appearing mildly dangerous rallying on the final turn, but hung. LANCER and FRANGINE were outrun. PREFECT was done early. SUB-CHASER quit.
