FOURLEAFCLOVER could not match strides with the pacemaker early, held on well and got up in the late stages when VIRGINIA OAKS tired. The latter went into command shortly after the start, drew clear under pressure in the stretch and weakened badly in the final sixteenth mile. FRESH TONIC was well placed throughout and turned in a game effort. OUR SUSAN had no excuse. AMULIKA was outrun. ROYAL DATE quit. POLYVIXEN remained a strong contender while under pressure, continued on well and got up over VOLTAGE.-The latter set the pace under light restraint, responded when shaken up in the stretch, but tired in the closing strides. MANY ISLANDS moved up cn the outside rounding the turn, switched course to the inside and was going strongest of all at the end. LUSCIOUS FRUIT turned in a good effort. SUNNY CORNER, hustled to remain a contender, flattened out in the late stages. ORNAMENT and COLLEEN RHUE were rank while outrun. . Overweight— Colleen Rhue, 1 pound. NILUFER quickly dashed to the front of BELLE JET after the opening quarter, opened a comfortable lead rounding the turn and was never in danger. BELLE JET could not match strides with the winner, but continued on well when displaced. SOUFFLE, while no match for the top pair, was best of the others. STERLING MAID was outrun. BIMINI BAY, in close attendance of the top one while on the outside, continued stubbornly until the end, but was not good enough. MOBY DICK was with the first flight from the break, tired, but lasted best of the others. LAETERNAL had good speed until the final furlong and gave way. TURF BULL, lacked a rally. NAVY GUN, within striking distance while -5 saving ground and under restraint, went up on the outside to gain command when ready and won fully extended. HOT jumped poorly while in command at the fourth and fifth jumps, made the pace until the final turn and o outgamed TITIEN II. for the place. The latter saved ground while prominent and lacked a closing rally. ll FLAMING COMET loomed a serious threat rounding the final turn and bore out when tiring. WAR POPPY, in close attendance of the leaders under rating, improved position from the outside, took command in the stretch and gradually drew clear COMBAT BOOTS pressed the pace on the rail, bore out and dropped back, leaving the three-furlong post, came again when righted in the stretch but was not good enough. HIGH BRACKET made the pace until nearing the furlong post and faltered slightly. COUNT TURF saved ground, made a mild bid on the inside in the stretch and weakened. UNCLEEDGAR was outrun. SUNSHINE NELL had good speed from the outset, moved around SAGITTARIUS on the turn and was increasing her margin while going handily. ATALANTA, on the outside of horses on the backstretch, continued on well to the end while unable to menace the top one. SUN RENE, sluggish early, ran "well the final furiong. ALL IS WELL weakened, the final quarter. SAGITTARIUS showed brisk early foot, but gave way when the real racing began. VINCENT X. F. was off rather poorly.
