MONTES ACE, sway alertly, was smartly handled while making the pace to the stretch, disposed of SUGAR BEET when set down for the drive, then held HEXTON safe. The latter, in hand until reaching the stretch, finished determinedly under urging, but could not overtake the winner. SUGAR BEET engaged MONTES ACE until reaching the final furlong, then faltered. STORM BIRD faltered during the stretch run TREADA BOY saved ground throughout, but could not reach serious contention. SAFETY LOCK faiied to stay after showing early speed. PAJARA steadily worked way forward, responded to punishment during the drive and, racing by ALLOCATION, won going away. ALLOCATION, a keen factor from the start, disposed of PADDY LANE after three-eighths mile and held a clear lead when settled in the stretch, but could not withstand the winner. HARBOURTON, away alertly, raced evenly to the stretch, then closed gamely under punishment. BOOTS BEST raced evenly and had no mishap. ARPEGE lacked early speed. PADDY LANE engaged ALLOCATION for a half mile, then weakened. MISSAB began sluggishly. HEDDY B. had early speed, but bore out badly during the last three-eighths and lost all chance LEADING MAN was Ihrouqh early. The others were never dangerous. TRIPLINE, never far back and well handled, responded to punishment during the stretch run and wore down UNCLE FUD during the last sixteenth. UNCLE FUD assumed command at the start, made the pace until inside the stretch, but could not withstand the top one. WILKS LOSS, away sluggishly and outrun to the stretch, finished fast when sent to the inside for the drive. HALRACK saved ground throughout, but faiied to rally when set down for the stretch run. CHALPUR, away slowly, saved ground while far back to the stretch, was sent to the inside for the drive and, closing fast under punishment, disposed of the leaders to win going away. SCHERZO, keen factor from the start, reached the lead between calls during the stretch run, but was unable to withstand the winner although much the best of the others. OIL. PRINCESS was hustled into an early lead, made the pace to tho last eighth, then faltered. SEGURO had no mishap. BLACK BANTAM was never dangerous. DOUBLE BLUSH engaged OIL PRINCESS for a half mile, but had nothing left for the drive. TILE MAN was through fter a half mile. MIST-O-BLUE was never a serious contender. WITCH WAY went to the front early, raced HAPPY GANDER into defeat entering the stretch and, ridden out, held ALSIRAL safe. The latter gradually worked way forward under steady handling, finished fast, but could not overtake the winner, although easily best of the others. POLLYS DELAY began fast, dropped back after the initial quarter mile and raced evenly thereafter. HAPPY GANDER engaged WITCH WAY for a half mile, but had nothing left for the drive. JANINA roughed horses when moving up fast at the first turn, raced into command after five-eighths mile and retained a clear advantage to the finish while under strong handling. OUR REQUEST, snugged and kept next to the inner rail from the outset, suffered interference while still under restraint at the three-eighths pole, then could not get to the top one when set down through the stretch. A claim of against JANINA by OUR REQUESTS rider was not allowed. SAPAJOU, reserved to the last three-eighths, finished willingly under punishment. BULLET CEE raced evenly and had no mishap. GAY HUNTER lacked early foot and was never a serious threat. SECOND AVENUE assumed command at once, made the pace to the upper turn while engaging OUR REQUEST, was forced into the latter when JANINA made her move on the outside, then faltered during the stretch run.
